In the final season of his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driving career, Jeff Gordon was bound and determined to go out on a high note, and that’s exactly what he’s setting up to happen. By winning the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway in a nail-biter, he is the first driver to punch his ticket for the Championship Round. Gordon led 35 of the 500 laps to secure his 93rd career victory and ninth at the short track. In addition, the race win was his first of the season and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. As one of the four drivers that will be battling for the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway, he has a one in four chance to go out on top and win his fifth title.
