After a rain-delayed and rain-shortened race at Phoenix International Raceway, Dale
Earnhardt Jr. was named the winner of The Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500. The
race was postponed for over six hours causing the field to battle it out under
the lights at the one-mile desert oval. Earnhardt started from third position
and powered atop the leaderboard at Lap 195. After a late caution on lap 218,
the rainfall continued and the race was called, resulting in a third win for the
88 team.
