After 200 laps and 500 miles in the 2016 DAYTONA 500 Denny Hamlin brought Toyota its first victory in the Great American Race and Joe Gibbs Racing its first win in the race since 1993. Coming out of Turn 4 on the last lap, Hamlin, driving the No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry, made a last-second sprint to the front and held off the second-place finisher by 0.01 seconds the closest finish in DAYTONA 500 history. Toyota drivers led 158 of the races 200 laps with Hamlin leading a race-high 95 of them.
